NEOS S&P 500 High Income ETF owns the S&P 500, the same large-cap mix as SPY, then sells listed SPX calls and buys out-of-the-money calls with some of that premium. That overlay is the paycheck, stock dividends are a sideshow. Index options get a better tax shake than equity options, and the checks often land as return of capital. The 0.68% fee is steep next to a plain tracker. Overall, a covered-call S&P 500 that still leaves some room to run.
